I found this article in "rouge" magazine and it talked about a "personal detox - a chance to de-clutter your life and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul."
Here is my personal advice for a Spring Cleaning!
1 Press the "OFF" button on your cell phone and computer. If you are always available it is hard to relax and enjoy life. Enjoy and focus on what you are doing with who you are doing it with.
2 Limit multitasking. Doing too many things at once increases anxiety. Multitasking actually slows performance and diminishes quality.
3 Make a priority list. Make a list of things to do each day and order them in rank of importance. Try to write all that needs to be done for that day and get it all done. Also check off the things you did. It always feels great to see your progress
4 If you feel like you have not completed anything useful in the day, do the dishes. It is great to complete a task that you can visually see the results.
5 Limit your time on the computer or phone. Some days you might look up at the clock and realize that you have lost hours on the internet. If you set a timer and limit yourself to half hour time slots then you will be more productive and not waste as much time.
6 Have a hobby. Enjoy life by doing something you love each day!
7 De-clutter your house, room, car, and closet. Clutter causes you to lose things and in turn run late or get angry. Living in a clean environment helps maintain a reasonable level of sanity.
8 Remember to enjoy time with your family. They are your best friends and will always love you.
9 Read the scriptures daily. It will really change your life and help you gain an eternal perspective. Doing the small things like praying and studying the scriptures will help you improve each day.
10 SMILE :D
This is a photograph done by my friend Scott. I really think it is amazing and I have set it as my desktop to remind me to always stop and enjoy the little things in life. Thank you Scott for this beautiful photograph :D
